
The Maplewood and South Orange Chambers collaborated to host a successful Business Card Exchange in the South Orange Performing Arts Center Loft. Over 100 members from both towns networked, browsed sponsor tables and sampled refreshments. South Orange Chamber member sponsors included SOPAC, Valley National Bank, Bonte Wafflerie, Bunny’s Pizzeria, and Terrence Allen.
Nov 29, 2007The Chamber hosted the annual South Orange Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Both Our Lady of Sorrows and Mary Lawn School’s choirs entertained residents as Village President Doug Newman lit the Tree at 76 South Orange Avenue. South Orange Recreation Department helped serve hot chocolate in the lobby of Chamber member, PNC Bank.

Main Street South Orange, Seton Hall and the Chamber collaborated to host the annual South Orange Halloween Festival. With the largest crowd in its history, the festival featured Glenda the Witch’s ball and costume contest. Downtown businesses participated in the Treat Street Alley Halloween parade, with prizes and snacks provided at the Farmers Market. A newly added feature, Seton Hall’s Colleges Against Cancer chapter treated participants to a Haunted Alley.

Chamber member Dr. Arnold Saslow (right) owner of Ye Olde Curiositie Shoppe, hosted the Chamber’s annual Treasures in Your Attic appraisal event. John and Kathy Nye, owners of Dawson & Nye, helped to appraise the many valuable items brought to the event. Members of the community took advantage of the three appraisals for $15 deal and received advice about insuring or selling their treasures at auction.


Chamber members gathered at Niecy’s restaurant for a networking wine reception. Participants were treated to a lecture on China Recalls: The Risks & Challenges of a Low Cost Supplier Strategy by Seton Hall’s Stillman School of Business professor Paula Alexander Becker, Ph.D., J.D.
